In San Diego, she taught children’s theatre, and helped develop San Diego Junior Theatre. Mary was a director of early Junior Theatre productions, including Cinderella of Loreland.
Bob and Mary moved to Los Angeles, where he worked as art director for NBC and ABC, pioneering work in color for both networks, notably NBC’s first color show — the famous Matinée Theater, and as a set designer for Disney for a number of motion pictures. Mary taught first grade in the Los Angeles Unified School District for thirty years.
Later, she served as a director in the Campfire Girls and remained a devoted environmentalist, as well as an enthusiastic world traveler.
